Register Your Business at the Register of Deeds
Be sure to register your business with the Currituck County Register of Deeds office. It only registers your name in Currituck County.
Currituck County does not require a business license; however, there are several steps one must take to ensure that you are in compliance with local and state regulations.

- All businesses and/or individuals must list and pay personal property taxes on all items used for the business. Items such as:
Contact the Currituck County Tax Department at 252-232-3005 as soon as you start your business to ensure all information is submitted appropriately to avoid penalties.
- Check with the county's Planning & Community Development Department at 252-232-3055 to obtain zoning information and regulations.
- Contact the North Carolina Department of Revenue for state licenses or requirements at 877-252-3052 or the Elizabeth City office at 252-338-7400.
- Business Link North Carolina is a service provided by the North Carolina Department of Commerce to give you everything you need to know to start your business in North Carolina. Most of the forms needed to start or register your business are available along with ways to manage your business and business counselors to answer your questions.
